Global Climate Change: A Connecticut Perspective

The Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative task force is presenting a discussion on Connecticut’s perspective in the larger question of global climate change. The presenter, Amey Marrella, is the current Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and former First Selectperson of Woodbridge. Amey is devoted to envorinmental law and protecting Connecticut’s natural resources.

Save $350 in Energy Bills

Jonathan Gorham will present the CT Energy Efficiency Fund’s Home Energy Solutions energy audit and retrofit program. Woodbridge residents can get a $25 rebate (off a regular $75 co-pay) to have certified, trained energy professionals identify and repair leaks in your home. These contractors also test air ducts, replace incandescent light bulbs, check insulation and examine appliances. Save at least $350 in the first year. Gorham will also discuss the town’s commitment to International Climate Action Day, October 24, 2009. Help Woodbridge become a green energy leader in CT.

The Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative task force is presenting a discussion on solar energy. The presenter, Andy Danzig, is a local resident who has been living on solar electricity since 2007. He will present his first-hand experience, discuss tax incentives, and encourage questions.

Food and Energy

Are you a Locavore? Where do you buy your food? Who grows it? How far does it travel to reach you? Is it safe to eat? If these are questions that have crossed your mind lately then come to the next Woodbridge Clean Energy Intiative speaker series. Our speaker will present a comprehensive look at our food and the energy used to grow, protect, transport, and sell it.

2ND ANNUAL CLEAN ENERGY CONTEST

The Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative (WCEI) in conjunction with the Bethany Clean Energy Task Force and the Orange Clean Energy Task Force is proud to announce the second annual contest for K-12 students in the tri-town area to inspire the community to save energy, reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, and lessen global climate change.

Participants may enter actual inventions, drawings, videos, or written pieces. Each entry will be judged on creativity, originality, feasibility, and artistic quality. The submissions will be displayed and judged live at Bethany’s Earth Day on May 16th at Amity Middle School in Bethany. The winning submissions will also be showcased on WCEI’s web site.

The Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative Task Force (WCEI) wants to show all about sustainable Lumber, Paint, Roofing, Heating, Cooling, and more. Whether your home is 3 years old or built in the 1800’s, learn why low-VOC, FSC, and LEED are important ancronyms for your next home improvement. WCEI is hosting a speaker series event about renovating with “green” products and technologies.

Our guest speaker will be Jonathan Tuminksi, a co-founder of The Center for Green Building in Bridgeport.

How to Save Over $500 this Heating Season

The Woodbridge Clean Energy Initiative Task Force (WCEI) wants to show you ways to save money on your energy bills. These savings will offset the increase in your electric bill that you will be charged by United Illuminating for signing up for CT Clean Energy Options ($.011/kWh). By using less energy you are also have less impact on global climate change. To be a good steward of the planet and to help Woodbridge go GREEN we invite you to do some of these things. The actual savings may vary by household, but, in total, the saving and the high Return on Investments (ROI) are there!
